- African American - Designates the styles surrounding the culture and heritage of African Americans in North America. The styles capture the essence of the African American experience and how personal and political rebellion and triumphs over prejudice and social adversity have enriched and contributed to the music, art, and literature of American culture as a whole.
- agents - People authorized to represent or act on behalf of someone else, particularly in business transactions.
- cafés (restaurants) - Designates informal eating facilities with plated table service, a limited food-oriented menu generally of simply prepared items and coffee, and a social atmosphere emphasizing bustle and noise.
- remarques - Refers to notes, scribbles, sketches or doodles made by the artist outside the design on a plate to be printed. The practice started as a way of testing the strength of the acid on a plate about to be etched before risking the biting of the image. Remarques were usually burnished away before printing, though occasionally some marginal marks were deliberately left in some printed editions to exploit the collector's desire for rarities. See also "remarque proofs."
